About Us

History

Antonelli College, a well-known part of the visual arts community in Cincinnati, Ohio since 1947, has held to the traditions of (1) quality teaching in the fields of visual arts and business, and (2) presenting students with the opportunity to develop their gifts and talents into professional skills. The College began as the Gebhardt Art School in 1947 with a philosophy of educating the total artist, based on the fundamentals of craftsmanship. In the mid-1970s, the College was renamed the Ohio Visual Art Institute, and in 1982 it became Antonelli College. During the 1990s, degree programs were added in business office technology, and in January 2005, programs in the health information technology field as well as massage therapy were added. In January 1996, branches in Jackson and Hattiesburg, Mississippi were added, thus continuing this long-standing tradition of quality career education.

Goal, Objective and Philosophy of Teaching

The primary goal of Antonelli College is to create an environment that prepares each graduate to become a qualified professional and a well-rounded individual. Antonelli College offers the quality training that is essential for students who wish to acquire the skills necessary to gain a competitive edge in the business world today. The objective of Antonelli College is to provide a solid foundation of skills, knowledge and training in a student’s chosen field. All training programs offered by the College prepare students for entry-level positions in their chosen fields. Students are trained for the business worlds of today and tomorrow. The Antonelli College philosophy of teaching is a combination of direct involvement and critical thinking. Direct involvement means hands-on training and real-world education. Individuals become competent in the use of the many tools and techniques of their chosen careers. Critical thinking means inquiring, analyzing and understanding ideas and processes in depth. Individuals become competent in applying what they have learned in school to all types of situations that they may encounter after graduation. By encouraging academic inquiry and practical application of specific concepts, Antonelli College prepares its students to achieve success.

Annual Schedule and Holidays

The calendar year includes four (4) quarters: fall, winter, spring and summer. The quarters are ten-week sessions and are separated by breaks. Students receiving financial aid are packaged for three quarters at a time. Each year a specific class schedule by quarters is published and printed. No classes will be held on the following holidays: Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, the Friday following Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, New Year’s Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Memorial Day and Independence Day. Please see the Calendar page the current year’s class schedule or request one from the College administrative offices.
