Center For Advance Legal Studies Houston - To Succeed As Paralegals!

The mission of the Center For Advanced Legal Studies Houston is to provide students with the skills, practical knowledge and requisite abilities which will allow them not only to succeed, but also to excel as paralegals as they meet the growing and constant needs of the legal, governmental and corporate environments within the community.

The Center For Advanced Legal Studies Houston is a leader in providing practical and comprehensive courses to those interested in entering the paralegal profession. Our programs meet the high standards established by legal and educational institutions and incorporate the recommendations expressed by members of our Advisory Committee, local attorneys, practicing paralegals, educators, and paralegal associations.

Commencement ceremonies are held bi-annually and recognize the accomplishments and successes garnered during a student’s course of study. During Commencement, students who have met their graduation requirements receive their Paralegal Certificate or Associate of Applied Science Degree along with Honor Certificates and certificates of induction into Lambda Epsilon Chi, the national paralegal honor society sponsored by the American Association for Paralegal Education.

Students graduate from the Center once they have completed their full course of study and have met all graduation requirements. Graduates are immediately eligible for all graduate benefits such as job placement assistance, joining many professional paralegal associations, and sitting for the Certified Legal Assistant (CLA) exam.

The Center’s standards for induction include achievement of an overall 95% grade point average and 95% attendance average. Students inducted into LEX must have completed no less than two-thirds of the course requirements and no more than 20% of all eligible students shall be inducted. Induction into LEX takes place quarterly.

About Us

The Center For Advanced Legal Studies, founded in 1987, specializes in paralegal education. The Center For Advanced Legal Studies offers a Paralegal Certificate program and an Associate of Applied Science Degree program. Both programs are accredited, approved by the American Bar Association and provide a comprehensive approach to paralegal studies.

Opportunities are also available for individuals who would like to take only selected classes and seminars to increase their legal knowledge and understanding of specific topics.

The Center For Advanced Legal Studies’ Externship program is designed to give students practical, on-the-job experience with an attorney, judge, corporate legal department or other law related business. The Externship allows students to apply their newly acquired skills in an appropriate employment setting, gain law-related work experience and build confidence in their abilities. They learn teamwork and the ins-and-outs of the legal work environment, and can add a valuable entry to their resume.

  • For acceptance into the Paralegal Certificate program, students must possess a Bachelor's degree.
  • For acceptance into the Associate of Applied Science Degree Paralegal program, students must hold a minimum of a high school diploma or its equivalent.
Why Choose the Center For Advanced Legal Studies?
  • Accelerated Programs - Our evening Paralegal Certificate students finish in a mere 40 weeks, and our evening A.A.S. Degree students complete their entire 2 year degree program in just 19 months. Day students finish in even less time.
  • Flexible Class Schedules - The Center offers morning and evening classes. If you work full-time during the day you can still reach your career goals by attending class in the evening. Just three nights a week will get you through our curriculum in a short period of time.
  • Online - Both programs are offered traditionally, In-house/On-site, or online. However you choose to attend, you will receive the same exceptional instruction and service that created our reputation as The Paralegal People® within the legal community.
  • Financial Aid - While many of our students pay for their education as they attend, other students may rely on the financial assistance that is available for college students.
  • Job Placement - The Center’s graduates have had great success in finding employment in the legal field. Our placement director works individually with each graduate to help ensure this success.
  • Accreditation - Our programs are accredited and approved by the American Bar Association.
