About Us
Everest Institute - Rochester historically has been a trendsetter, opening its doors in 1863 to offer Commercial Training to young men. In 1883, women were allowed to enroll. At this time, the catalog stated that the paramount duty of every parent is to thoroughly equip their children for earning a livelihood. In the late 1800's, there was a serious shortage of business subject textbooks and for a time, Everest Institute - Rochester wrote and published its own. Soon after the turn of the century, Everest Institute - Rochester passed another milestone when it became the first school in the nation to offer a training program for business teachers. In 1973, an ownership change brought the Institute under local control and established new philosophies to meet the changing requirements of modern business enterprises and to enhance the employment opportunities available to its graduates. In 1976, the Regents of the University of the State of New York granted approval to the Institute to confer Associate degrees due to the career and occupational focus of the Institute`s programs. In October 1996, Rhodes Business Group, Inc. acquired Everest Institute - Rochester. Everest Institute - Rochester offers programs in accounting, business administration, computer programming, administrative support, and information processing.
