Ohio Institute of Photography and Technology Dayton 14,000 square-foot main facility was constructed in 1977. The College added 4,400 square feet in 1984. Considerable space is devoted to studio and lab facilities where much of the students' project work is conducted. In addition to the main facility, the College also utilizes extensive classroom space at Point West Business Park immediately behind the Edgefield Road facility. The expanded facility houses 17 classrooms and administrative and faculty offices. It is located immediately adjacent to the main building and provides expanded facilities of approximately 20,000 square feet primarily for the graphic design, criminal justice and allied health programs.
Fully equiped studios- Camera and lighting exercises, tabletop photography and portrait techniques are explored in five fully-equipped studios. Nine computer labs (IBM and Macintosh), plus audio/visual areas, provide multimedia majors with the latest in digital technologies and imaging. The black and white laboratories are composed of thirty-two separate stations. In addition to the printing and processing areas, there are facilities for chemical mixing and quality control. Conveniently located- Lectures and critiques are conducted in multiple classrooms. Additional space is set aside for the College store and equipment checkout. OIP&T facilities are accessible to handicapped persons. OIP&T is located three miles south of downtown Dayton within a short distance of I-75. Students unfamiliar with Dayton will find it to be a progressive, attractive community. Its proximity to interstate highways puts Dayton within a comfortable day's drive of much of the eastern half of the country. Dayton provides a diversity of educational and cultural resources, including an excellent philharmonic orchestra, two art centers and numerous community theater groups. Memorial Hall and Victoria Theater host national tour company productions and special concerts. Advantages of larger cities, such as Columbus, Cincinnati and Indianapolis, are within a short driving distance.

Communication skills- OIP&T helps students reach their educational goals by providing them with communication skills necessary to work successfully with clients and other professionals by offering courses that prepare them to effectively participate in society, by equipping them with the knowledge necessary to succeed in a competitive job market, and by encouraging them to become involved in professional organizations that will promote their learning and professional skills.

The College employs instructional methods based on adult learning theory and is committed to the development of each student's intellectual, analytical and critical thinking abilities. Teaching techniques encourage active student participation and may include group discussions and projects, laboratory work, simulations, demonstrations, field trips, guest speakers and lectures.
Positive Self Esteem- OIP&T believes that education should promote the development of positive self-esteem and, for that purpose, provides services supportive of student efforts in succeeding academically, vocationally and personally. These services include individual advising, academic tutoring and assistance in locating needed social services.
Excellence in education- In order to fulfill its mission, OIP&T strives to provide excellence in education by hiring well-prepared, experienced faculty and staff by maintaining an updated facility that fosters educational growth in a pleasant and safe environment. OIP&T offers current classroom equipment, library facilities with Internet access and computer labs and tutoring and advising services to help students successfully complete their programs of study.
OIP&T provides assistance to eligible graduates in obtaining employment along with classes, workshops and advising sessions that teach and guide them through the process of securing and maintaining employment.
