The Southeastern Institute of Charleston was founded in 1997. Upon licensure by the South Carolina Commission on Higher Education, the school was established to provide a clinically based curriculum in the Professional Clinical Massage Therapy training program.
In February of 2007, the Southeastern Institute was acquired by Dr. Arthur and Belinda Keiser, who have long-term involvement in developing and managing private colleges and schools. In November of that same year, the School, made application with the Tennessee Higher Education Commission for a branch campus of its Main North Charleston, South Carolina campus to be located in Nashville, Tennessee. In June of 2008, the Nashville Branch Campus began operation.
In 2009, Southeastern Institute changed its name to Southeastern Institute and expanded its program offerings beyond Massage Therapy.
